Beginning Friday evening with the opening party at The Z Hotel and continuing through the weekend, The Astoria/LIC International Film Festival is taking the nabe, nay the entire city, by storm. My Dear Secretary, released in 1948, stars Kirk Douglas as an immature playboy/best-selling novelist who hires a young writer, Laraine Day, with ideas of putting another notch on his bedpost. Ms. Day has other ideas. Throw in some humorous scenes with Keenan Wynn and you’ve got the makings of a pretty darn funny flick. It’s the battle of the sexes… in the workplace and beyond.

Rock the Mic is a monthly indie showcase held in Long Island City, NY.
